legal notice

who runs samsam.lol, how to reach them, and the usual questions about content, links, copyright and liability.

the operator

samsam.lol is a personal website run by a private individual in germany. it is not a company, it has no commercial register entry, no vat identification number, and no supervisory authority, because none of those apply to a personal page. it sells nothing, carries no advertising, and takes no payment of any kind. this notice is published anyway, because a site people can find should say who is behind it.

infodefinetly not mine bro.

who is responsible for the content

responsibility for the content of this site under § 18(2) of the german state media treaty (mstv) sits with the same person named above, at the same address, once that address is filled in. there is no editorial team, no contributors, and no third party with publishing access. everything on the site was put there by one person.

how to get in touch

email is the fast channel: sam@samsam.lol. messages are read by the operator and answered directly, without a ticketing system or an intermediary.

the contact form on the front page reaches the same person and needs no email client. it delivers into a private discord channel — how that works, and what it does and does not send, is set out on the privacy page.

there is no telephone number. § 5 ddg requires details that allow rapid electronic contact and direct communication; german case law has accepted email combined with a second immediate channel as sufficient where a phone line is not maintained. email plus the form are two routes that both work immediately and both land with the same person.

there is no expected response time to promise. this is a personal site, not a service desk. messages that need an answer get one.

what this site is

a personal page: a short profile, links to social accounts, a gallery of cat photographs, an embedded music player, a live indicator of whether the operator is online, and a contact form. no account is needed, nothing is for sale, nothing is gated, and there is no user-generated content — nobody but the operator can publish anything here.

nothing on this site is advice. not legal advice, not financial or investment advice, not tax advice, not medical advice, not professional advice of any other kind. it is a personal page and should be read as one.

the crypto swap at swap.samsam.lol runs on the same domain but is a separate service with its own terms, its own privacy notice and its own legal notice at/swap/legal/. this page does not cover it, and statements here about the personal site should not be read across to it.

responsibility for content

the operator is responsible for their own content on this site under general law. that responsibility covers what is written and published here.

it does not extend to a general duty to monitor third-party information transmitted or stored, nor to actively search for circumstances indicating unlawful activity. §§ 7 to 10 ddg say that such general obligations cannot be imposed on a service of this kind, and the same principle appears in article 8 of the eu digital services act. obligations to remove or block the use of information under general law remain unaffected — but liability in that respect only arises from the point at which a concrete infringement becomes known.

in plain terms: if something here is wrong or should not be published, tell the operator and it comes down. that is not a formality — it is the actual process, and there is no queue.

responsibility for links

this site links to pages that are not under the operator's control: social profiles, a friend's website, embedded players, an image api, and the sources of the fonts and libraries it uses. the content of those pages is the responsibility of their own operators, and no guarantee of any kind is given for it.

every linked page was checked for obvious legal problems at the moment it was added, and none were apparent at that time. permanent supervision of linked pages is not reasonable without concrete grounds to suspect a violation, so links are re-checked when there is a reason to re-check them rather than on a schedule. if a link on this site now points somewhere it should not, say so and it will be removed.

links open in a new tab where they leave the site, and outbound links carryrel="noopener noreferrer", which prevents the destination from gaining a reference back into this page.

copyright and reuse

the text, source code, layout, animations and original graphics on this site were created by the operator and are protected by german copyright law. reproduction, adaptation, distribution and any use beyond the limits of copyright require the operator's written consent.

downloading and copying for private, non-commercial use is permitted. so is linking to any page on this site — no permission is needed for an ordinary hyperlink, and none will ever be demanded for one.

if you want to reuse something here — a piece of code, an effect, a phrasing — ask. the answer is usually yes, and it is faster than you expect.

third-party material

some content on this site was not created by the operator, and its copyright stays with whoever made it:

  • the avatar photograph;
  • the cat photographs in the gallery, which are fetched at page load from a third-party image api and are not stored or curated here;
  • the 88×31 badge in the footer, which belongs to the site it links to;
  • the embedded music player and everything inside it, which is served by and belongs to spotify and the rights holders of the music;
  • the icon set and the two typefaces, which are used under their own open licences;
  • every brand name, wordmark and logo appearing on the site.

insofar as any content here was not created by the operator, third-party rights have been respected as far as possible and such content is marked as third-party where practical. if you nonetheless become aware of an infringement, please tell us. on notice of a violation, the content in question will be removed immediately.

trademarks

product names, company names, logos and trademarks appearing on this site belong to their respective owners. they appear for identification — to say which service a link goes to, or which platform an embed comes from — and their appearance implies no affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement from the owners. no claim to any of them is made.

availability

this site is a hobby project on free hosting. no availability is promised and none should be assumed. it can be offline for maintenance, for a deploy that went wrong, or for no visible reason at all. third-party embeds — the player, the presence card, the gallery — depend on services outside the operator's control and can fail, change or disappear independently of anything happening here.

no guarantee is given that the information on this site is complete, accurate or current, and the site may be changed, restructured or withdrawn at any time without notice.

liability

liability for damages arising from the use of this site is excluded, except where the law does not permit exclusion. specifically, liability is not excluded and not limited:

  • for injury to life, body or health;
  • for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence;
  • for damage arising from the breach of an essential contractual obligation, in which case liability is limited to foreseeable damage typical of the contract;
  • where liability is mandatory under the product liability act or any other statute that does not allow it to be excluded.

this exclusion applies equally to the operator's legal representatives and to anyone assisting them in operating the site.

consumer dispute resolution

the european commission's online dispute resolution (odr) platform was discontinued on 20 july 2025 under regulation (eu) 2024/3228, so the link that every german legal notice used to carry now points at a service that no longer exists. it has therefore been left out rather than reproduced. national dispute resolution bodies are listed on the commission'sconsumer redress site.

the operator is neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board within the meaning of the german consumer dispute resolution act (vsbg). this statement is required where it applies; it is not an attempt to avoid resolving anything, and the email address above is the shorter route to that.

reporting a problem

there is one channel for every kind of complaint — copyright, personality rights, an inaccuracy, a broken link, a security issue, anything else:sam@samsam.lol.

a report is most useful when it says which page or element it concerns, what the problem is, and, if a right is being asserted, on what basis. no particular form is required and no lawyer is needed to be taken seriously.

if you have found a security problem — an exposed secret, a way to abuse the contact endpoint, anything of that sort — the same address works, and a report made in good faith will be answered in good faith. please do not test anything that would degrade the site for other people or reach data that is not yours.

accessibility

the site aims to be usable with a keyboard and with a screen reader: interactive elements are reachable by tab, focus is visible, images carry alternative text, headings are structured, and the animations are suppressed entirely when the browser reports a preference for reduced motion. legal pages like this one carry no scripts at all and paint immediately.

no formal conformance to a wcag level is claimed, and no accessibility audit has been commissioned. if something here is unusable with the tools you rely on, that is worth an email — it will be treated as a defect rather than a request.

data protection

how this site handles personal data — what is collected, who receives it, how long it is kept and what rights you have — is a separate question with a separate answer on theprivacy page. that page is the binding statement on data protection; nothing in this legal notice modifies it.

applicable law

german law applies, to the extent that this choice does not deprive a consumer of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which they habitually reside. that qualification is not decorative: article 6 of the rome i regulation preserves those protections regardless of what a website says, and this notice does not attempt to contract around them.

changes to this notice

this notice may be updated when the site changes or when the law does. the date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and the version published here is the one that applies.
